What it is
A Korean screen recorder from OhSoft that handles screen recording, capture, game recording and audio recording in one program. What separates it from Bandicam is that the free build carries no watermark and no time limit — in exchange it shows ads inside the program and restricts free use to personal purposes.
When to pick this
Good for recording long lectures or gameplay at home, where the absence of a time limit beats Bandicam’s free build. On a work PC the licence gets in the way — use OBS Studio or ShareX instead, both open source and free for business.
Details
No watermark, no time limit on the free build
Bandicam’s free build stops at ten minutes and stamps a watermark on the video. oCam does neither, so a full lecture or meeting records straight through. The trade is an ad panel at the bottom of the window and the maker’s blog opening when you quit.
Record a window, a region or a game
Choose the whole screen, a single window or a region you draw. Games get a separate mode that captures full-screen titles. Codecs include H.264 and MPEG-4, and turning on GPU acceleration takes load off the CPU.
Business use needs a licence
The maker limits free use to personal, non-profit purposes. Companies, schools, public bodies, academies and internet cafés are expected to buy. Because it is widely described as "free software", this is where people get caught after installing it on a work PC.
