Privacy policy
This describes only what the site actually does today. There is no sign-up, and nothing personal is collected beyond what you type into the contact form yourself. Advertising is Google AdSense only.
There are no accounts
There is no sign-up. We never ask for a name or a phone number, and an email address only if you choose to give one when writing to us.
Your selection stays in your browser
Which programs you picked is stored inside your browser only (local storage). It does not appear on your other devices, and clearing browser data removes it. The one exception is the moment you press download, when the program names are sent for the count described below.
The script is assembled in your browser
The install script is built inside your browser. What you selected never passes through our servers.
Installer files come straight from the vendors
Running the script connects your PC directly to each vendor’s servers to download. At that point, that company’s privacy policy applies.
Sharing the URL shares your selection
Your selection is also encoded in the page address. Sending that address to someone passes along which programs you chose.
Counting downloads
We count how many times each program has been taken from here. It shows which entries people actually use, and it tells us where to spend the effort of keeping the data accurate.
- Pressing download sends the program names and nothing else. Who pressed it is not recorded.
- So that one person pressing several times counts once, your IP address and browser string are mixed with the date into a value that cannot be reversed, and kept for a day. Once the date changes it cannot be linked to anything, and old entries are deleted.
- The IP address itself is never stored.
- The resulting numbers are published openly on the program pages. Nothing here is held back.
Advertising
This site carries Google AdSense advertising to cover running costs. In exchange, we never slip ad-supported programs into the install list and never place an ad beside a download button.
- Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads. What you have browsed before can change which ads you see.
- We neither receive, see, nor store that data. It is handled by Google inside the ad slot.
- Personalised ads can be turned off at adssettings.google.com. Ads still appear afterwards; they simply stop being tailored.
- Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before ads load. Declining leaves the site fully usable and serves non-personalised ads instead.
- Blocking cookies in your browser does not break anything on this site.
What the contact form sends
Anything written in the contact dialog arrives in our mailbox. A reply address, if you give one, is used only to answer you. It is not passed on or used for advertising.
- Your IP address is counted for one day at the moment you send, so that one sender cannot burn through the daily quota and block real enquiries. The address itself is not stored.
- Messages are not kept once they have been answered.
- You can skip the form and write to hello@afterformat.com directly.
