Check before installing

Configure an upload destination and captures go online the moment you take them. Check that setting during setup — left on unknowingly, an internal screen can end up at a public URL.
There are a lot of features and the first screen looks busy. Set one capture shortcut and leave the rest for later.

What it is

An open-source tool that handles capturing, recording and sharing your screen in one place. Region capture, scrolling capture, GIF and video recording, on-screen text recognition (OCR) and a colour picker are all included. Being GPL v3 open source, it costs nothing for personal or business use.

When to pick this

If you capture often and need it on a work PC too. Many Korean capture tools are free for personal use only and need a licence at work; this one is free commercially. For the occasional crop, the built-in Windows tool (Win+Shift+S) is enough, and for long recordings OBS Studio fits better.

Capture and recording together

Region, window and full-screen capture, plus scrolling capture that stitches a long page into one image. It also records the screen as GIF or MP4, so there is no separate recorder to install.

Automatic post-capture steps

Decide in advance what happens the moment you capture: copy to clipboard, save to a folder, apply a filename rule, add a watermark — executed in order. If you do the same thing repeatedly, the difference is large.

Check before enabling uploads

With an upload destination set, a capture goes online immediately and the URL lands on your clipboard. Convenient, but left on unknowingly it means internal or personal screens end up at a public address. Check this during setup.

After a reformat

Settings backup is built in

Settings → Advanced → Export settings puts hotkeys, workflows and upload settings into one file. Export before formatting, import on the new install, done.
