What it is

A Korean office suite from Hancom. Government offices, schools and public institutions in Korea issue documents in HWP format, so opening those files effectively requires it. Creating and editing is paid; a separate free viewer covers reading.

If you have to create or edit HWP documents. If you only receive and read them, the free viewer is enough; for general document work, Microsoft 365 or ONLYOFFICE fit better.

After a reformat

Product key or subscription account required

A perpetual version asks for the key again during setup; a Hancom Docs subscription signs in with the account. The key is in the purchase email or the Hancom account’s order history.

Templates, dictionaries, macros

Custom templates, user dictionaries and macros are stored apart from your documents. Copy %APPDATA%\HNC before formatting to restore them.

Fonts

The fonts Hancom installs come back with it, but fonts you added yourself are gone, and documents set in them look wrong until the fonts are reinstalled.
