Check before installing

This installs the launcher. The game itself downloads afterwards and needs tens of GB more.
This is the Korean server build. Accounts from other regions will not connect.
It also installs the Riot Client, which is what launches VALORANT too.

What it is

Riot Games’ 5v5 MOBA. It has held the top spot in Korean PC-bang usage for years. The game is free; only cosmetic items cost money. What installs here is the Korean server client.

When to pick this

If you are reinstalling League after a reformat. If you also play VALORANT, adding both is convenient since they share a client.

Details

Disk space

This installs the launcher. The game itself needs tens of gigabytes more, so decide the install location before you start if the C: drive is tight.

Server region

This is the Korean build. North American or European accounts will not connect — other regions need their own build.

Riot Client

It installs the Riot Client alongside. VALORANT launches from the same client, so if you play both you only install it once.

After a reformat

Downloading again is the reliable route

Even with the game folder copied, the Riot client often fails to recognise it. The download is not huge, so a fresh install is the less painful option.

Game settings

Keybinds and display settings live in the Config folder inside the game directory. Copy just that folder and drop it back in after the new install to restore them.
