What it is
Blizzard’s game launcher. Overwatch, Diablo, StarCraft and World of Warcraft are downloaded and launched from here. Games are tied to the account, so purchases survive a reformat.
When to pick this
If you play Blizzard games. For breadth of catalogue you also want Steam, and for weekly giveaways the Epic Games launcher.
Details
Purchases stay on the account
Sign in after a reformat and your library is intact. Reinstall only what you want.
StarCraft: Remastered
StarCraft, long popular in Korea, is downloaded from this launcher. The original is free.
Install location
Each game can be pointed at its own folder, so large titles can go on another drive and leave C: alone.
After a reformat
"Locate the game" avoids the download
If you copied the game folder before formatting, open the game page in the new launcher, use the menu next to Install → Locate the game, and point it at that folder. It verifies and runs.
Authenticator
With the Battle.net Authenticator, approve in the phone app. In-game settings (keybinds, add-ons) live in the account folder inside the game directory; copy it too and they return.
