What it is
A Korean archiver from Bandisoft. It opens zip, 7z, rar and alz, and creates zip and 7z archives. Unlike much of the category it is free for both personal and business use, with separate free and paid editions. Check the edition when choosing features such as image previews inside archives.
When to pick this
For a Korean-language archiver that is safe to install at work. If you want no ads at all, 7-Zip is fully open source.
Details
Formats
Opens zip, 7z, rar, alz, egg and iso; creates zip, 7z and exe self-extracting archives.
Free for business too
No licence purchase is needed on a company PC. The free edition shows ads; the paid edition removes them.
Korean filename handling
Archives made on older Korean systems often show broken filenames. It detects the encoding and repairs them.
After a reformat
Set file associations again
Right after install a screen asks which formats (ZIP, 7Z, RAR and so on) should open with Bandizip. To change it later: Bandizip Settings → File associations.
Settings via export
The bottom of the settings window has export and import. If you customised archive naming rules or password management, export before formatting. The defaults are fine for most people.
