Check before installing
- Installing it on a work PC can be a licence violation. In a business environment use 7-Zip or Bandizip.
- Watch for bundled-software checkboxes during setup.
What it is
A long-standing Korean archiver from ESTsoft, and the program that made the .alz and .egg formats common in Korea. It is free for personal use only: installing it on a company or public-sector PC requires a paid licence, which is the single most important thing to know about it.
When to pick this
Consider it when you need to create ALZ or EGG archives. For extraction, Bandizip is another option; standard 7-Zip does not support ALZ or EGG.

alz and egg
It reads and writes the formats it introduced. Files split across multiple parts by older Korean sites are usually alz.
Personal use only
Free at home, licensed at work. Installing it on a work machine is a licence violation, and this catches people out regularly.
Bundled software
The installer offers other ALTools products and add-ons. Read each checkbox before continuing.
After a reformat
Untick the bundled items in the installer
Other ESTsoft products such as ALYac and ALToolbar come pre-ticked. If you only want ALZip, untick them.
On a work PC, licensing
Free for individuals; companies and public bodies need a licence. Bandizip or 7-Zip are the safe choices at work.
File associations
The installer asks whether to open ZIP, ALZ, EGG and others with ALZip. Two archivers fight over associations, so keep just one.
